Year 12 Induction Success
Year 12 Induction Success

Our new Year 12 Induction Day was fantastic! All of our students arrived really early and were keen to get going with the fun packed day of activities that we had planned for them. They were all really nervous, but excited, with our range of not only one, but three induction activities; one of them finding their feet in their college surroundings by searching for the answers to a series of questions.

Afterwards, the students completed all of the admin and form filling activities ... For more information visit our website

Year 10 Work Experience
Year 10 Work Experience

Year 10 Work experience has been a great success this past year as students have experienced the world of work on three occasions. Feedback from employers has been extremely positive with most of our students returning to the same employer each time. We have every confidence that when the time comes for the young people to move into employment, they will do so successfully. We look forward to the new Year 10 group stepping up and working as hard as our current year 11’s did last year. Well... For more information visit our website

Challenge South Africa Here We Come!

Three students from the Studio College, Callum, Lynden, and Siraaj are being giving a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit South Africa to learn about the country’s history and culture and find out more about life there after apartheid.

Twenty two students will be taking part in the trip, under the Challenge South Africa programme run by Stoke on Trent College.

The Challenge South Africa programme centres around equality and diversity, teaching the students about the history of South Africa and encouraging interaction with local people, with the students witnessing their day-to-day lives.

Included in the itinerary for the 11 day trip is a tour of Robben Island, where they will see the cell Nelson Mandela was held captive, as well as a visit to the Khayalitsha AIDS orphanage.

Lynden said, “This is such an amazing opportunity and I feel so lucky to be a part of something so life changing and I cannot wait to go.”

The selected students have then had to raise £600 each by organising their own fundraising events before jetting off next February 2017.

Zoe Simpson, Lead Personal Coach, said “the three students that have been selected have been waiting for the day to apply to the Challenge South Africa Project from day one of their studies when they were issued with our Enrichment Booklet.”

Calvin Austin, a Learner Involvement Co-ordinator at Stoke on Trent College, said, “The South Africa Challenge is a unique opportunity for personal development, which will provide students with the chance to learn the history and culture of South Africa.”

“The trip is a brilliant opportunity for our students to work together towards something they care about.”

“They have all shown great enthusiasm and commitment to raising the necessary funds and I am proud of each of them.”
